Kremlin: Russian Finance Minister and US Secretary of Treasury will meet to discuss trade increase
The Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on Russia 24 TV channel that the Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov will meet with his American counterpart Steven Mnuchin.
According to him, US President Donald Trump said that the volume of the current US trade with China and Russia, is "shameful," so it is necessary to resolve this issue.
He added that both sides expressed their determination to take steps to bring trade and economic relations between the countries out of the "low level," which is "not befitting the potential" of both countries.
"Let's hope that our relevant agencies, and more specifically, Siluanov and Mnuchin, will meet again today or tomorrow to "synchronize their watches," and determine which factors hinder the activation of trade and economic cooperation," he said.
At the same time, Peskov said that it is crucial to learn from mistakes and not to hurry with conclusions about the normalization of relations. However, he noted that the parties also indicated their intention to discuss sensitive issues.
At a meeting in Osaka, Putin and Trump also discussed the situation with Ukrainian sailors detained in November, arms control and Russia's interference in the US elections.
