President of Belarus Lukashenko ordered to strengthen security on the border with Ukraine

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to reinforce the security of the border with Ukraine.

"We have decided to strengthen security on the border with Ukraine. We see how many troubles it causes for Belarus, including smuggling of arms. We must close the border, not for decent people, but for criminals, for those who carry weapons "- he said at the meeting with the State Secretary of the Security Council and the chairman of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

"Right now, the minister reported to me that they detained the man with an arsenal of weapons, including machine guns, a dozen assault rifles, two dozen rifles, ten thousand cartridges and so on, and so forth." Was he collecting them? All the weapons are military weapons. Here they are, the collectors. Where is it coming from? We checked our army and everything all the weapons are accounted for. So, they brought them [ the weapons] from outside. That is why we decided to establish a border with Ukraine. We need strength there, we really do. Let's see. However, not in a hurry, not a hundred people there or thousand people there, one man at a time where necessary. Without any commanders. There should be a minimal number of commanders, " - the press office of President of the Republic of Belarus quoted Lukashenko.

Belarus voted against the inclusion of the Donbas situation on the agenda of the UN General Assembly. Ukraine's ambassador to the UN, Vladimir Yelchenko, said that Belarus is not a neutral country in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and suggested that the negotiations of the Trilateral Contact Group should move elsewhere.
