Media: Ankara negotiates with Moscow the purchase of Kornet anti-tank missile systems

On Sunday, Yeni Safak newspaper reported that Turkey is negotiating with Russia for the possible purchase of Kornet anti-tank guided missile systems (ATGM). The newspaper notes that negotiations also concern the possibility of providing technical maintenance for the ATGMs, which are already in service with the Turkish Armed Forces.

Ankara also plans to purchase from Moscow equipment for infantry and vehicles. Both sides are also discussing potential cooperation in improving the armor of Turkish tanks.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a news conference after talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that the Russian Federation decided to speed up the supply of Triumph S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Turkey.
