Media: Poroshenko sells one of the largest shopping centers in Moldova

Chisinau-based Twins Estate S.R.L. acquired a stake in one of the largest shopping centers in Chisinau, Gemenii S.A. (former Detsky Mir department store), which, according to media reports, was owned by the current president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, Interfax-Ukraine reports with reference to the company’s press release.

The Competition Board approved the contract for the sale at the end of last week and it has come into force. However, the terms of the transaction, amount of funds involved, and the name of the seller remain unknown.

The report states that the shopping center Gemenii S.A. will continue operating as usual, while the new owner plans how to update it in accordance with the demands of the modern market. The Gemenii brand will stay the same.

Twins Estate S.R.L. is a member of the Rogob group of companies specializing in the retail trade of meat and meat products. According to the Moldovan media, through a third party, the company Rogop ultimately belongs to the leader of the Democratic Party and the main Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, who, in turn, is considered an important business partner of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
