Pro-Russian separatists attack Ukrainian Forces 37 times

On the 23rd of January, pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine violated the ceasefire agreement 37 times. The Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements were observed in the cities of Donetsk and Bulavinskoye.

Information about the presence of weaponry–tanks, self-propelled guns (SPG) and 122-mm Grad rocket launchers-was provided by representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission.

Ukrainian servicemen continue to implement the Minsk Agreements in order to de-escalate the conflict in the Donbas region. However, Russian-backed separatists continue to violate the ceasefire agreement.

“The situation in the ATO zone remains challenging. The enemy continues to fire upon ATO [Ukrainian government] forces. ATO forces were shelled 37 times from small arms, grenade launchers, armoured infantry fighting vehicles and 100-mm calibre artillery systems,” the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine noted.

In the area surrounding the Donetsk airport, Ukrainian forces in Peski and Opytnoye were fired upon by different types of grenade launchers and small arms. Also, the use of grenade launchers was recorded in both Zaitsevo and Mayorsk (towns in Donetsk).

In Mariupol, a Ukrainian site in Shyrokyne was fired upon by heavy machine guns. Ukrainian headquarters reported that the enemy opened fire on Ukrainian positions near Starognatovka using 120-mm mortar.
