US Deputy Secretary of State: Russia violated the principles of the world order

As was stated by the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in his statement at the Warsaw public library, Russia has violated the basic principles of international law by annexing Crimea and deploying heavy weapons and thousands of soldiers along international borders, Radio Svoboda reports.

According to Blinken, such actions violate the premise that “the borders and territorial integrity of a state cannot be changed by force... that all members of the international community are bound by general rules and must pay for the non-fulfillment of commitments.”

“These principles extend beyond Ukraine and Europe. They are fundamental rules, which are the foundation of the international order we strive to build, maintain and change, if necessary. By denying them, Russia tries to separate out the transatlantic alliance, undermine our unity and contribute to the failure of democratic states,” he said.

Blinken confirmed that sustained support from the U.S.A. is necessary and the sanctions against Russia will remain in effect until the Minsk Agreements are fully implemented by Russia.

According to Polish radio, Blinken also stated that the U.S.A. will continue the strengthening of the eastern flank of NATO. “The responsibility of NATO is combating threats in the East and South and increasing the rotational presence in the eastern flank. There will be 4,000 soldiers that will guarantee a rotational presence of the Alliance in Europe. American soldiers will be in Poland every day,” the American diplomat said.
