Ukrainian Intelligence: Russian troops could cross the administrative borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions
The representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Vadim Skibitskiy, stated on-air with 5th TV Channel that the Russian Army located in the Donbas can enter the administrative borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions in order to boost the significance of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR).
According to him, the Kremlin wants to demonstrate that there are legitimate People’s Republics located within the administrative borders of these regions of Ukraine.
In addition, Vadim Skibitskiy noted that Russia has already conducted a number of activities aimed at disrupting the Ukrainian Independence Day celebrations, reinforcing groups and activities of its troops in the annexed Crimea and occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
“The Russian Federation isn’t going to implement the Minsk Agreements requiring the withdrawal of military equipment and cessation of provocative shelling of our positions. There are ten days left before the start of the Independence Day celebrations but the situation remains very challenging,” Skibitskiy summarized.
The representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense noted that Russia uses all means of influence over Ukraine, trying to gain control over the territory of Ukraine.
“Currently, Russia uses a hybrid scenario on all fronts – political, informational, military and economic – which means that Russia uses all levers of influence over Ukraine to get us to agree to the Russian terms of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements and agree to settle of the question of the occupied territories on Russian terms,” Skibitskiy explained.
