Separatists prevented OSCE's movement by firing warning shots in the air

Members separatist groups continue to obstruct the activities of the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE in Donetsk and Luhansk, said First Deputy Head of the Mission Alexander Hug at a briefing in Mariupol on Saturday.

"Today at lunch time on the way to Novoazovsk to the east, on approach to the DPR checkpoint, the checkpoint staff fired warning shots into the air. The patrol had to turn back to Mariupol," news portal Novosti Donbassa quotes Hug as saying. According to Hug, the majority of such incidents were observed in territories controlled by the so-called DPR.

As reported on Friday, May 27th, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Special monitoring mission was downed on the outskirts of Horlivka. Before the connection was broken it was able to observe a light armored multipurpose transporter (MTLB) with a ground-to-air missile system installed on the roof.

Also on Friday, an SMM patrol came under small arms fire during a patrol near Avdiivka-Yasynuvata in the Donetsk region. None of the members of the patrol were injured.
