Turchynov: Ukrainian missile tests proved their effectiveness and high precision

Ukrainian missiles are effective and high-precision weapons, as stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksandr Turchynov, at the end of another stage of the missile testing.<#p>

According to the Council’s press service, Turchynov explained that, during this stage of testing, the operation of the missile control system was conducted while engaging and striking targets at long range.

Turchynov noted that the rocket successfully hit the target.

"The distance from the target to the location of the rocket strike was only about 17 meters, but the impact zone of such a missile is 300 meters," the NSDC Secretary said, adding that this was a very good result.

"The most important thing that I can say is that Ukrainian missiles hit the targets with high accuracy," Turchynov noted, adding that another important task of the tests was to check the functioning of the missile's warhead.

"I want to emphasize once again that the warhead, as well as the missile, were manufactured by Ukrainian enterprises," he said. "Scientists, manufacturers and the military worked together cohesively, as single body. This is a very high-quality and important result for Ukraine."

The day before, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko said that the latest Ukrainian missiles were successfully tested in the Odessa region.

According to the President’s press service, the missile is designed to hit different classes of targets. "The warhead, the engine and the missile control system are made in Ukraine. More than 10 enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry are involved in its production. The tests showed high accuracy and reliability of missile control systems," the message states.

Poroshenko, Turchynov and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stepan Poltorak, had personally observed the missile tests.
