Poland to allocate $550 for creation of cyber troops
The Polish Ministry of Defense will allocate 2 billion zloty (more than $ 550 million) to create defenses against cyber threats, as stated during the cybersecurity forum, Cybersec 2017, on Monday in Kraków, by the Minister of National Defense of Poland, Antoni Macierewicz, Ukrinform reported.
"We are aware of how significant Poland's responsibility is, given our key role on NATO's eastern flank. Therefore, the decision that we want to implement in the coming years is the creation of cyber troops of at least 1,000 military personnel capable of fighting in cyberspace," Macierewicz said.
He justified the need to create Polish cyber forces by noting, in particular, the threat from Russia.
"Our main enemy made information one of his most important weapons and every day tries to influence our thinking and actions according to his needs," Macierewicz stated.
He recalled that last year Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a new security doctrine, providing for the creation of cyber forces.
Earlier in October it was reported that the United States would provide Ukraine with $5 million for protection against cyberattacks.
