Russian MPs planning to attend UN General Assembly denied visas to the US

The United States did not issue visas to members of the Russian delegation who were to attend the UN General Assembly in New York. According to RIA Novosti, the heads of the International Committees of the Federation Council and the State Duma, Konstantin Kosachev and Leonid Slutsky, were denied entry to the United States.

Kosachev called this "an outrageous action" that has no explanation. Eight Russian diplomats were also denied entry to the US. The Russian Foreign Ministry has already said that this diplomatic scandal will be the main topic of the upcoming conversation between the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov and the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the incident an "outrageous example" of disrespect and "failure to fulfill obligations as a host". Washington has not yet commented on this information.
