Ukraine to take part in NATO's largest military exercises

Representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will take part in one of largest strategic military exercises in the history of NATO, Trident Juncture 2018, which will start in Norway on October 25, reported the Public Relations Office of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The active phase of Trident Juncture 2018, which involves 45,000 interspecific contingent of troops, will last until November 7. In addition to the 29 countries of the Alliance, military units from Sweden and Finland will also take part in the exercises.

“According to the scenario of the exercises, the multi-national coalition of NATO is conducting a large-scale military operation to liberate the illegally occupied northern part of the Kingdom of Norway. We can easily guess that the fictitious country Murinus that acts as an aggressor is our northern neighbor,” the office announced.

The command staff phase of exercises will last until the end of November in the NATO administration and training centers from the Italian region of Campania to the Norwegian regions of Tromsø and Finnmark.

“Since September, 5 Ukrainian officers have been working in the sections of the headquarters of the multi-national coalition. They have undergone stages of theoretical training and operational coordination and will be performing their tasks in Naples, Ramstein and Stavanger,” reported the press service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
