US Congress to increase aid to Ukraine by $75 million

The Ukrainian embassy in the USA stated that US Congress considers increasing the budget of aid provided to Ukraine by $75 million in 2019.

“In the US Congress, a draft bill was approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives “Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs: FY2019 Budget and Appropriations”. The estimated assistance to Ukraine through the United States Department of State, United States Agency for International Development and relevant agencies is determined in the amount of $445.7 million, which is 25 million dollars higher than the corresponding appropriations in 2018,” said the Embassy in a message on its Facebook page.

The bill also assumes the legislative possibility of allocating funds granting Ukraine credit guarantees.

Thus, the total amount of funds to support Ukraine in the 2019 fiscal year including $250 million previously allocated to the Pentagon for these purposes, will amount to $695.7 million. This is $75 million more than was allocated in 2018.
