Former Russian Deputy Prime Minister owns eight-million-dollar villa in Dubai

The family of the former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, now head of state-owned bank Vnesheconombank, Igor Shuvalov owns a villa in Dubai worth approximately $8 million, OCCRP reported with reference to emirate’s private real estate registry.

An exclusive building with a private beach and swimming pool is located on the shores of Palm Jumeirah, an artificial island in the Persian Gulf. Nearby are villas owned by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the youngest son of the former Emir of Dubai, Ilham Aliyev, the son of Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev, and Russian billionaire and Monaco football club owner Dmitry Rybolovlev.

According to the documents, the villa officially belongs to the British company Regional Property Developments Ltd. Information from the British Registry of Companies reveals that it is owned by Maria Shuvalova. Over the past five years, Shuvalov’s son Evgeny and his wife Olga have acquired shares in the company. Moreover, Shuvalov owns property in central London worth 11.4 million pounds.

This June, Forbes reported that Shuvalov’s family also owns a Gulfstream G650 business jet worth about $70 million.

According to the published investigation of the Anti-Corruption Foundation in July 2016, Shuvalov flies in a Bombardier Global Express private jet with tail number M-VQBI, worth about $50 million. Shuvalov’s wife, Olga also uses this aircraft, recently flying with her dogs to visit a show.
