National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine to create special unit for investigation within Ministry of Defense

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau intends to create a special unit to investigate corruption in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as indicated on Tuesday, October 17th, the director of the NABU, Artem Sytnik, in Brussels, UNIAN reports.

"We have completed the creation of detective units and we will now have a separate unit that deal specifically with the Ministry of Defense. This is a huge budget, the biggest budget in the state, and therefore we will pay a lot of attention to it," he said.
Sytnik added that detectives are currently conducting an investigation against employees of the Ministry of Defense, as well as the Deputy Minister and other senior officials.

On October 11th, the NABU detained Deputy Defense Minister, Ihor Pavlovsky, and three other employees of the Department on suspicion of the embezzlement of 149 million UAH ($ 5.6322 mln.) in the procurement of fuel from the Trade Commodity company.
