Poroshenko shows the UN Security Council passports of Russian military captured in the Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the UN Security Council meeting in New York, showed the attendees passports of Russian military men fighting in the Donbas.

"The Russian words that ‘they are not there’ have nothing to do with reality. There is ample evidence that Russia organizes and sponsors terrorism in the Donbas. Here is the evidence. These are the passports of Russian officers and soldiers, some of whom have been imprisoned for occupying Ukrainian land illegally," Poroshenko said, showing a pile of passports.

Poroshenko reminded the Council that Ukraine has been a responsible UN partner for many years. Ukrainian "blue helmets" took part in many operations around the world. "In many cases, we were part of ensuring peace from the Balkans to Africa. But today we also need a peacemaker shoulder to lean on," the Ukrainian president declared.

As reported, Poroshenko asked the UN Security Council to bring peacekeepers to Ukraine and the sooner, the better.

This is not the first time that the Ukrainian President has resorted to this tactic. In 2015, he revealed the Russian passports and military cards of Russian soldiers who fought on the territory of Ukraine to the participants of the conference on security held in Munich, Germany.

In the same year, during the speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Poroshenko showed a piece of a bus that was damaged by militants’ shelling near Volnovakha of the Donetsk region.
