Russia condemns Israeli airstrikes on Syria

The Russian Special Presidential envoy for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that Moscow condemns the airstrikes carried out by the Israeli Air Force on the territory of Syria.

"We are still clarifying the circumstances, but this is very wrong," he said. "It just leads to an unnecessary escalation of tension in the region."

On Wednesday, the press service of the Israeli Army reported that the aircraft of the Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on dozens of Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the elite units of Iranian Armed Forces) and the Syrian army positions in Syria.

It was an Israeli response to the earlier attack on their territory. On Tuesday, the Israeli military informed that the air-defense systems intercepted four missiles launched from Syria on the area of the Golan Heights.
