Syrian Kurds ask Israel for help
An unnamed Kurdish politician in an interview with the Israel Army Radio (Galey Tzahal or IDF Radio), appealed to the Israeli government for help. According to the Kurdish politician, "the whole region will suffer" if no one stops the Turkish operation in Syria.
He also warned of severe consequences not only for the Middle East but for the whole world if former militants of the Islamic State group, who fled because of the Turkish invasion, will get out of Syria.
Earlier, representatives of the Kurdish militia reported a mass escape of terrorists from prisons after several Northern regions of Syria came under the control of the Turkish army and its followers from among local groups.
Earlier, the Israeli Chief Rabbi David Lau called on Israeli President Reuven Rivlin to support the Syrian Kurds in their opposition to Turkish aggression. "These days, our hearts are with the Kurds, who are facing mass destruction," said Lau.
Under the pressure from the international community, Turkey announced a ceasefire, which will last for five days. Ankara demands that Kurdish armed groups leave the 30-kilometer zone along the Syrian-Turkish border during this time, as well as transfer their heavy weapons to a third party. Otherwise, Turkey threatened to resume hostilities. Kurdish leaders have already announced that they do not intend to fulfill Erdoğan's requirements.
During Turkish Operation Peace Spring, about 250 soldiers of the Kurdish resistance, about 200 fighters of Pro-Turkish groups, ten soldiers of the Turkish Armed Forces, and at least 100 civilians (of which at least 20 children) were killed.
