President of European Council: Poland’s policy is similar to Kremlin’s plan
European Council President Donald Tusk criticized Poland for a number of disagreements with the EU. He believes that some controversial decisions by the country’s leadership may be related to the “Kremlin’s plan”, he wrote on his Twitter.
“Strident dispute with Ukraine, isolation in the European Union, walking away from rule of law and judicial independence, attack on non-governmental sector and free media. Law & Justice strategy or Kremlin plan? Too similar to sleep well.,” Tusk wrote.
Earlier, Brussels repeatedly criticized the Polish authorities because of contradictory judicial reform, deforestation in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha, and the refusal to accept migrants.
The ruling conservative political party of Poland, PiS, has a tense relationship with Tusk. Poland is the only country that voted against his re-election as president of the EU in March of this year.
The relationship between Ukraine and Poland worsened after Poland began the procedure for banning from the country Ukrainian officials who block the exhumation of Polish victims in Ukraine.
To resolve tensions, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko decided to hold meetings of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland.
On Saturday, November 18, Poland officially confirmed that a “black list” of Ukrainians had gone into effect.
