Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: Ukraine and NATO have not formally prepared ministerial meeting of joint commission for December
Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have not formally prepared for a December meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Ministry notes that events at the level of the Foreign Ministers of NATO are usually held twice a year: once in April or May, and a second time within the first ten days of December.
The meeting of the Foreign Ministers in December was envisaged by an annual national program under the auspices of the Ukraine-NATO Commission; however, Ukraine did not officially send a request for a meeting of the Commission.
"The Ukrainian side did not send an official request for the convening of a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission in December 2017 at the level of foreign ministers," the reply says.
The statement additionally notes that, while organizing a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers at NATO Headquarters on December 5-6, the international staff did not also propose convening a meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers of the Ukraine-NATO Commission.
At the same time, the response says that a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission will be held at the ambassadorial level on December 14 in Brussels (Belgium).
In late October, Hungary vetoed a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission.
