Erdogan assures Zelensky of Turkey’s support for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reports the press service of Ukrainian President. During the conversation, the presidents discussed preparation for the next meeting of Ukraine–Turkey High-Level Strategic Council co-chaired by the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey.

"The Heads of State noted a common commitment to further enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. The parties agreed on the importance of intensifying the negotiation process on the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey," reads the statement.

Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the participation of Turkish companies in the "Weapons and Security 2019" exhibition, noting the importance of cooperation with Turkey in enhancing the Ukrainian defense capability.

For his part, Turkish President Erdoğan stressed unchanging Turkey's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He also welcomed the steps taken by the Ukrainian President on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbas.
