Girkin: Russia on brink of war with Ukraine

Igor Girkin (Strelkov), former leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said the air on Roy TV that victory in the Donbas by the Ukrainian Armed Forces would lead to a full-scale war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

“We have a war with Ukraine close at hand. Everyone understands this, but the Kremlin does not want to understand this. If the Ukrainian army unexpectedly attacks and sweeps the Donbas, an inevitable domestic political crisis in Russia will follow," the Russian mercenary said.
Girkin believes that if Moscow does not fight with Kyiv, then the Russian Federation will still "rot for some time."

The former separatist leader noted that the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, falls short of dictator status, and can only be considered a "weak tyrant."

“You can call him whatever you want, but he is not a dictator. He is, in a bad sense, like the Byzantine Basilius, who played into intrigues ... He has not even pulled a Pinochet. He may be a weak tyrant for some time," Girkin said.
