At NATO-Russia meeting, Russia wants explanations about NATO’s expansion

At a joint Russian-NATO meeting, Moscow will demand a detailed explanations from NATO concerning the Alliance's expansion

The statement was made by the press representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova,  commenting on the NATO summit in Warsaw.

“ During the NATO-Russia meeting which is scheduled to take place on July 13, we are expecting detailed explanations from the representative of the Alliance about strengthening of NATO which is taking place in all directions,” the statement says.

“ In the context of the  so-called 'peaceful aspirations' of the Alliance the position of Brussels on the  so-called 'Niinistö plan' proposing to strengthen the air security in Baltics, which was introduced by our Finnish partners , also presents an interest for us,” added Zacharova.

As stated earlier by the NATO Secretary General,Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO-Russia meeting is scheduled for July 13 and will take place following the NATO summit in Warsaw.
