Kremlin: the US participation in the de-escalation zones in Syria is possible only with the permission of Assad’s government

Russia's TASS news agency reported that the participation of the United States in monitoring the de-escalation zones in Syria will only be possible with the consent of Damascus, as stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

"It is too early to talk about it, because, of course, all of this should be coordinated with the Syrian side, because Syria is a sovereign country, it has the leadership, so of course it is necessary to consult with them, to have their consent," he said, responding to a question about the possible participation of the US.

Bogdanov noted that there are still a number of specific details on the functioning of de-escalation zones, including their exact geographic boundaries that need to be discussed within the working group consisting primarily of the military experts from the countries participating in the negotiations in Astana.
"These are those conceptual and specific issues mentioned in the memorandum, which was signed in Astana by the three guarantor countries, Russia, Iran and Turkey.

There are many issues that have been identified that require more specific, in-depth discussion, including, of course, the participation of the countries-observers in Astana. I mean the United States and Jordan,” he continued.

“The local councils set up in the territories liberated from the terrorists in Syria should not replace legitimate authority in Damascus,” said Bogdanov
