Nemtsov's daughter appeals to court after Investigative Committee refuses to question ex-Chief of Internal Troops of MIA

The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has refused to question the former Chief of the Internal Troops of the Russian MIA, Viktor Zolotov, in connection with Boris Nemtsov's murder. Nemtsov's daughter, Zhanna Nemtsova, has now appealed to the courts to question Zolotov. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Nemtsova’s lawyer, Vadim Prokhorov.

“In November, we filed a petition with the IC requesting that they interrogate Viktor Zolotov but they refused. We have familiarized ourselves with the case, we have analyzed it and we have realized that it is necessary to question him. We have now appealed to the Basmanny District Court of Moscow to do so,” Prokhorov explained.

He also said that some of the accused in Nemtsov’s murder were servicemen of the Internal Troops of the Russian MIA and were direct subordinates of Zolotov.

It was previously reported that the investigation into the five suspects is complete.

Boris Nemtsov was shot in Moscow on the evening of the 27th of February 2015. Zaur Dadaev was arrested in connection with the crime. Investigators believe that he is the one who pulled the trigger. Khamzat Bach, Anzor and Shadid Gubashevs and Tamerlane Eskerhanov were also accused of being involved in the murder.
