Poland the UK favor maintaining sanctions against Russia

On 3rd of September, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Witold Waszczykowski, announced after a meeting with the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Boris Johnson, that they have agreed on the need for maintenance of sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia until full implementation of the Minsk Agreements.

“We have discussed the failure to implement the Agreement with Ukraine and we have also discussed the way out of this situation. We have agreed that sanctions should be maintained until Russia begins implementation of these Agreements,” Waszczykowski said.

The annexation of the Crimea and the military conflict in Donbas have resulted in economic sanctions against Russia that were imposed in the summer of 2014. In July 2016, the European Union officially extended sanctions against Russia.
