Tusk said events in Avdiivka serve as a reminder of Russian aggression in Ukraine

The worsening situation in Avdiivka reminds Ukrainians about continuing challenges brought by Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine, said the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Libya, Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj.

According to Tusk, the crisis in Ukraine is still on the radar display of the European Union. "Recent violations of the ceasefire show the new level of intensity and violence. The humanitarian situation in the area of Avdiivka is becoming critical.”

He further stressed that, "We have been reminded about continuing challenges posed by Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine and threats for implementing the Minsk agreements again.” Tusk called for the immediate cessation of hostilities.

Tusk also stated that Russia should use its influence on the separatists in Donbas to stop hostilities.
