Ukrainian defense industry presented a modernized attack helicopter

The Mi-24PU1’s performance was enhanced considerably thanks to modern sighting and navigation systems.

State Enterprise, Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant (AVIAKON), which is part of the UkrOboronProm State Enterprise, presented a modernized Mi-24PU1 attack helicopter. According to the press service of the company, AVIAKON is ready to transfer three Mi-24PU1 helicopters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the design stage of  the Mi-24PU1, special attention was given to improving the defenses of the attack helicopter. Domestic experts equipped it with an ADROS electronic-optical countermeasure system manufactured by Progress Research and the Production Complex of Nizhyn. This system is designed to disorient missiles with infrared homing heads. Therefore, the helicopter is protected against portable air-defense systems such as Igla or Stinger and air-to-air missiles like the R-60 and the R-73.

To inflict damage on the enemy, the Mi-24PU-1 is equipped with a super-power 30-mm automatic cannon and various missile weapons, including high-precision, anti-tank guided missiles.

The Mi-24PU-1 attack helicopter had new domestic engines  to improve its speed and maneuverability. In addition, the performance of the helicopter increased significantly thanks to modern sighting and navigation systems, which allow it to effectively complete tasks even in absolute darkness.
