Saakashvili: Prosecutor General of Ukraine Lutsenko is preparing my arrest and extradition to Georgia

The leader of the party, Movement of New Forces, Mikheil Saakashvili, stated that the General Prosecutor's Office was preparing documents for his arrest and extradition to Georgia, as indicated on his Facebook page.

"Prosecutor General Lutsenko has started the process of preparing documents with the aim of my arrest and extradition to Georgia for the actions during my presidency," Saakashvili wrote.

On October 24th, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that the State Migration Service refused to grant Saakashvili refugee status and, as a result, now "there are no special circumstances" that could prevent his deportation or extradition.

The leader of the Movement of New Forces stated that he had not received a denial from the State Migration Service to grant him the refugee status. At the same time, he said that he had received a document in which it was recommended that he apply personally to the local State Migration office for temporary residence status pending his refugee application.

The State Migration Service has stated that there are grounds for expelling Saakashvili from Ukraine, as he has  not settled his legal status in Ukraine.

On October 25th, Saakashvili stated that he had received documents from the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, depriving him of citizenship, which he plans to appeal in court.
