Ukrainian President Poroshenko promises that Ukraine will join NATO

Ukraine will definitely become a member of NATO and, perhaps, will even be able to offer its representative to the post of Secretary General, as stated by the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, at a meeting with the students of the Ivan Bohun Military High School.

In addressing the students, he expressed confidence that future officers, generals, ambassadors, ministers and, possibly, the future president are standing in front of him.

"And perhaps even a NATO Secretary General, because Ukraine will definitely become a member of the alliance," the head of state added during his speech on the occasion of the Defender of Ukraine Day, his speech was broadcast by Ukrainian TV channels.

He also congratulated Ukrainian servicemen on the Defender of Ukraine Day and thanked them "for heroism and courage." Poroshenko said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be replenished with new military equipment today. "Today, I will go from here to the troops and hand over the next batch of weapons and equipment totaling 200 units and among them there are 62 tanks," he stressed.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Groysman, in his congratulatory message published on the government’s website, pointed out that the Ukrainian army in the medium term should reach NATO standards, so that the country "could begin to integrate into the alliance effectively."

The day before Poroshenko said that Ukraine will be successful when it will return to the "single family of European nations once it frees itself from the invaders and completes the reforms that have been started.”
