Zelensky: Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov offered to end the war in Donbas

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the UN General Assembly in New York, reports Ukrayinska Pravda news outlet.

According to the Ukrainian President, Russian Foreign Minister approached him first and said that he wants to have a personal meeting. Zelensky added that after that, Lavrov said: "We want for the war in the Donbas to end."

"If you are ready, let's end the war. Give us our territories, and let's exchange people. I want to stop the war in the Donbas, to stop the killing of our people, our troops, and our citizens," said Ukrainian President in response.

Earlier, Lavrov mentioned about his conversation with Zelensky. The Russian Foreign Minister noted that "both sides expressed interest" in resolving the conflict in the Donbas under the Minsk agreements.

Confrontation with Moscow was the main topic of Volodymyr Zelensky's speech at the UN General Assembly. During his speech, the Ukrainian President showed a bullet of 12.7 mm caliber, which was used to kill an opera singer Vasyl Slipak in the Donbas. Zelensky noted that Slipak died defending his homeland from Russian aggression. He called the end of the war in the Donbas his main task.
