  • Latvia bans broadcast of Russian channel RTR-Planeta

    The rebroadcasting and distribution of Russian channel RTR-Planeta’s programs have been banned in Latvia. This decision was made by the National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP) on April 7th.

    "Any ban is an indication of weakness," said Petr Fedorov, head of the International Relations Directorate at VGTRK. According to him, a national regulator "attempts to force VGTRK to censure their programs."

  • Russia begins importing Syrian fruits and vegetables to partially replace sanctioned Turkish produce

    Russia began importing Syrian produce to partially replace Turkish products which have been prohibited for import by Russian authorities since January 1st, Kommersant reported.

    General Director of Adyg Yurak Zao, Aslan Panesh, said last week that nearly 3,000 tons of citrus fruits, cabbage and tomatoes arrived in Novorossiysk.     The Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Gennady Moskal, has appealed to the Ukrainian government to make a decision with regard to Russian trucks that travel through Ukraine to the European Union.

  • Russia bans transit of Ukrainian trucks

    The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has stopped the movement of registered Ukrainian freight transport on Russian territory.  According to their statement, this measure was introduced in response to the unlawful blocking of Russian vehicles on Ukrainian territory.  This ban will remain in effect until the situation is resolved in Ukraine.
