Polish media: French-German superpower will replace the European Union

Polish State Channel TVP has claimed that Germany and France have grandiose aspirations. Both nations are allegedly attempting to create a new European superpower to rival the European Union. Polish journalists based their allegations on a document prepared by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Germany and France, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Jean-Marc Ayrault, respectively.

The project should be presented at the meeting of the heads of diplomacy of the Visegrad Four countries, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. It implies that EU members would forfeit their right to armies, intelligence agencies, criminal codes, separate tax systems and control over their own borders and procedures of receiving and resettlement of refugees on their territories.

"The plan assumes the creation of a unified visa system and implementation of common foreign policy, including restrictions on NATO’s role on the European continent. In fact, the document proclaims the creation of the unified European State dependent on the strongest EU players," - the Polish journalists state.

Earlier, French Finance Minister Michel Sapin noted that France and Germany agree that a response to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union requires quick actions.

A referendum on membership in the European Union was held in the United Kingdom. According to the official data published on Friday, 51.9% of the British people voted in favor of leaving the European Union.
