Putin says the US is the world's only superpower
The Russian president called the US the only superpower nowadays. He made the statement on Friday, June 17 at the St. Petersburg international economic forum.
“The US is a great country, probably the only superpower in the world at this moment. We accept this. We are ready and willing to work wih the USA,” Putin said.
According to Putin, the world needs “such a powerful country... And we need it too. But we don’t need them to constantly interfere with our affairs, teach us how to live, prevent Europe from building relationships with us."
He also acknowledged that the Russian retaliatory sanctions have had no effect on the United States’. “They in general don't care about our sanctions. There are no consequences of our retaliatory actions against them [the US]," the Russian President said.
