Security Service of Ukraine: Interpol refused to issue international wanted notice for separatist commander

Interpol has refused to issue a notice for Russian citizen, Arseny Pavlov, who is also known as Motorola. According to witnesses, he killed Ihor Branovytskyi, a soldier defending the Donetsk airport. According to the Human Rights Information Center, this was said by the Deputy Chief of the Main Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), Vitaliy Mayakov.

Interpol has returned the relevant documents to us and have said that the case is of a political nature. We don’t understand this. Motorola shot Branovytskyi in front of witnesses and he is a suspect in Ukraine. The courts have decided that he should be arrested,” Mayakov said.

He said that Interpol also refers to similar cases as political and refuses to investigate further. “I still have hope that the cooperation of the international community will result in a change in this position,” Mayakov added.

It was previously reported that Pavlov admitted that he “shot 15 Ukrainian military prisoners”. Prior to the 21st of February 2015, the SSU had charged him with crimes against humanity.

On the 16th of April 2015, Yuriy Sova, a soldier of the 80th brigade, reported that Motorola shot and killed Branovytskyi, who at the time was a soldier of the 90th separate airmobile battalion of 81st Air Assault Brigade.
