Ukrainian President: cancellation of Trump’s meeting with Putin shows Putin's isolation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the cancellation of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin shows Putin's absolute isolation.

“I have already seen President Trump’s reaction. He tweeted that he has made a decision – if Putin does not respond to the request to release the Ukrainian sailors, he will have to cancel their meeting. I believe this reaction shows that Putin is entirely isolated. After the chemical attack in the UK, after the terrorist attack on MH17, after the aggression in the east of my country, after the events in Syria, and all these terrible things, Putin is in isolation,” Poroshenko said.

The Ukrainian president believes that it is necessary to use international pressure to return Russia to the civilized world. “Because it is a disaster, it is a great threat to global security,” Poroshenko’s press service quoted him as saying.

The president said that Putin’s aggression is unpredictable. “It is possible that Putin will make a decision to defend the Nord Stream 2 project and will attack the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. There are no ‘red lines’ for Putin,” Poroshenko said.

Earlier, the US President Trump canceled his meetings with Putin, the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and South Korean President Mun Zhe Ying.

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the cancellation of Trump’s meeting with Putin was due to the political situation in the United States.
