Kremlin: Russia held 200 different exercises in 2018 in the Black Sea

On Wednesday, January 2nd, the press service of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces reported that during 2018, the Black Sea Fleet held about 200 different exercises with over 600 practice drills, including combat shooting. In preparation for combat service. The crews of 40 ships and boats trained and successfully passed at least 140 training tasks.

In addition, during the previous year, 28 missile firings at sea, coastal, and air targets were completed.

For the first time in the Black Sea, a Kalibr missile was launched at a naval target. The crew of the Admiral Grigorovich frigate successfully hit a cruise missile simulator surface ship.  

Among the main tasks set forth for naval units to solve in 2019, are ensuring the admission of new vessels into the Black Sea Fleet combat formation, as well as the implementation of missions in the Mediterranean Sea.
