Kyiv and London discuss military cooperation

On Monday, September 17th, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with the Secretary of State for Defense of Great Britain Gavin Williamson. The two sides positively noted the continuous Ukrainian-British dialogue on security and defense, reports the presidential press service.

In part, the President praised the contribution of Great Britain in strengthening defense potential and training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and expressed hope that this cooperation would continue.

Also, according to the department, the president welcomed the idea of the Great Britain Secretary of State for Defense to visit the conflict zone in the Donbas.

“Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain within the framework of NATO and the UN, as well as the bilateral cooperation in confronting cyber threats,” the statement reads.

Earlier, the presidents of Ukraine and Estonia Petro Poroshenko and Kersti Kaljulaid, during a meeting in Kyiv on September 14th,   discussed the bilateral cooperation and interaction in the framework of international organizations.

Before that, the Federal Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz, after meeting with President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv urged Russia to find a channel for dialogue regarding the Donbas.
