Lavrov and Tillerson conduct telephone conversation to discuss Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson discussed the situation in the Donbas during a recent telephone conversation. According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the telephone conversation was initiated by the Americans.

During the conversation, the representatives of the Russian Federation and the US touched upon the Minsk agreements.

"The importance of further engagement of the bilateral channel of consultations was confirmed, in addition to the work of the Contact Group and the Normandy format," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

In addition to Ukraine, the parties touched on the Korean issue against the backdrop of Pyongyang's nuclear developments, and also discussed steps to overcome the conflict in Syria. Lavrov and Tillerson agreed to intensify the dialogue on topical issues in the sphere of strategic stability.

Previously, Lavrov said that Russophobic hysteria in Washington prevents the Russian Federation and the US to move forward in important areas.
