After the incident at the artillery depots in Kalynivka, NSDC (National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine) Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov demanded the resignation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Viktor Muzhenko, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine citing its sources.

The demand for Muzhenko’s resignation made by the Secretary of the National Security Council resulted in an emergency meeting of the Military Cabinet on September 27th.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, Turchynov put the responsibility for the fire at the ammunition depots in Kalynivka in the Vinnytsia region, on the entire military leadership structure, beginning with the head of the General Staff, Viktor Muzhenko.

Earlier, the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Viktor Muzhenko, responded to the demands for his resignation. He said that it will not be possible to make him or his subordinate responsible for the accident in Kalynivka and that these demands are being made by people who are trying to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.
