Combat helicopters of the Turkish Air Force will receive new high-precision missiles

Combat helicopters of the Turkish Air Force will soon be armed with the latest anti-tank missiles with a range of eight kilometers, reports Anatolian news agency.

The L-UMTAS missile with a laser guidance system was developed by Roketsan Company. The Turkish Air Force began receiving the L-UMTAS missiles several years ago. The missile was specially designed for the attack helicopters developed by Turkey as a part of ATAK project.

The Minister of National Defense of Turkey, Fikri Işık said that the missile tests had already passed and were successful. “Due to the new missiles, the power of the Turkish Air Force grew, which is a great success for our armed forces,” he said.

The L-UMTAS rocket can be used in air-to-surface and surface-to-surface roles. Its main purpose is to destroy any enemy armored vehicles within a radius of eight kilometers. The missile is equipped with a high-precision laser guidance system and can be effectively used for combat missions at night.
