Ukrainian Cabinet prepares to make a decision on Donbas blockade

At its next meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers will consider the issue of trade arrangements with the uncontrolled territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, in an interview on TSN on Sunday evening, February 26th.

“It is necessary to settle the matter of trade relations with the occupied territories. The corresponding decision was made by the National Security Council so that we could regulate this issue and relevant orders were given, and the preparation of the bill for the Cabinet of Ministers has been dragging on for a long time by the Security Council and one of the cabinet departments,” stated the minister.

Avakov remarked that the plan to take appropriate action has taken so long to prepare that it “has aroused questions and suspicions among the general public.”

“As I understand it, at the next meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers a bill will be passed that regulates trade,” the minister said.

On January 26th, veterans of the war in the Donbas along with some People's Deputies began a blockade of the railway in the Donbas, which affects, among other things, the delivery of coal from the uncontrolled areas.
