Military Prosecutor’s Office of Russia suspects the Black Sea Fleet of corruption

During a meeting in Sevastopol, the Russian Chief Military Prosecutor, Sergey Fridinsky, ordered inspections of the military units and formations of the Black Fleet. The Military Prosecutor’s Office will check the safety of petrol, oil, lubricants and food, as was reported on the website of the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office of Russia on 17 August.

“The Chief Military Prosecutor emphasized the need to prevent corruption, theft and improper use of budget resources while implementing the State’s defenses, ensure the provision of proper supervision in the housing and communal sphere, the need for additional measures to improve the supervision of the implementation of legislation by the bodies which conduct initial inquiries or pre-trial investigations and compliance with the safety standards of military service,” the statement reads.

“The results of the work by the District Prosecutor’s Offices demonstrate the prevalence of corruption offences in this sphere,” the press service of the Office reported, citing Fridinsky.
