Polish soldiers arrive in Estonia

On Thursday, an infantry company from the Armed Forces of Poland arrived in Estonia, as reported by Postimees, citing a statement released by the headquarters of the Estonian Defense Forces.

The 5th Company of the 7th Motorized Battalion of the 17th Motorized Infantry Brigade will stay in Estonia until July 31 to develop cooperation with Estonian soldiers and other allies in Estonia.

The company, reinforced by armored personnel carriers, is made up of nearly 150 servicemen. Polish soldiers will be accommodated in the town of Jõhvi.

The Polish company is coming to Estonia from Latvia, where it participated in the Saber Strike exercise and rehearsed cooperation with the US and Latvian militaries. The company will spend a month in each of the Baltic countries.

"Our goal is to work out tactics in the Baltic countries, to learn to perceive the allies, as well as to get acquainted with the terrain. We want to become friends," said the commander of the 5th Infantry Company, Captain Krzysztof Ilnitsky.

A line of trucks and Rosomak armored personnel carriers crossed the Estonian–Latvian border at noon.

On the first day of August the company will move to Lithuania.
