Russian paratroopers will be sent to Egypt during October to participate in the first joint exercises of its kind. This was reported on the Russian Defense Ministry’s website on the 4th of October.

The ministry went on to report that marines with their weapons and equipment will be transported by IL-76 aircraft.

The ministry had previously reported that the paratroopers of the two countries plan to conduct anti-terrorist exercises in October this year, and in particular, to train in desert operations.

Russia and Egypt held their first joint naval exercises in June last year. During the maneuvers, the ships of the Russian Navy and of the Egyptian Navy practiced defending the sea routes with support from their air forces.
