Turkish Foreign Minister: Turkey and Russia exchange military intelligence on Syria

According to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Turkish and Russian militaries maintain an open line of communication and exchange intelligence information regarding Syria, TASS reported.

During an interview with Turkey’s 24 Canali TV, Çavuşoğlu stressed that such "cooperation is beneficial."

"We say that in the context of the Euphrates Shield Operation, we cooperate with all parties fighting against the Islamic State. Now that relations with Russia have normalized, we have an efficient mechanism of information exchange on all topics. Our Chiefs of Staff hold regular talks," the Turkish Foreign Minister stated.

"It is useful to always be in touch to avoid possible problems. It is a basic duty for all to exchange data in the context of anti-terrorist efforts. We may have disagreements with Russia, for instance, on Aleppo, but we must continue to pursue dialogue," he stated.

Çavuşoğlu added that Turkey is exchanging intel with several other countries, including members of the U.S.-led coalition and Gulf states.
