UK to train 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers in accordance with NATO standards

In 2017 Great Britain will train 5,000 Ukrainian servicemen in accordance with NATO standards, as was said by the British Secretary of State for Defence, Michael Fallon, during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister, Stepan Poltorak.

"The volume of training and advisory support from Britain is expected to increase. Five thousand Ukrainian servicemen will be trained in accordance with NATO standards next year - this is the new goal of the British training mission in Ukraine," Fallon stated, according to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine. Poltorak thanked Fallon for the 2,500 servicemen who have already been trained by British instructors.

The British Secretary of Defense also appointed a special advisor for Poltorak. A former British Army officer who served as the Commander of Land Forces, General Sir Nicholas Ralph "Nick" Parker.
