NATO Secretary General: Russia should take responsibility for the crash of MH17

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that he agrees with the conclusions of the international investigation team on Russia's involvement in the crash of the Malaysian Boeing in the East of Ukraine in the summer of 2014, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"I agree with the Dutch government's assessment concerning the Malaysian Boeing. Russia has to admit its responsibility," Stoltenberg said at the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Warsaw, as quoted by the Alliance's spokesperson, Oana Lungescu.

Stoltenberg, speaking about relations with Russia, emphasized the need to avoid incidents between the Alliance and the Russian Federation. "Even if we don't believe in a better relationship with Russia in the near future, we at least need to manage this difficult relationship to make sure that we don't have incidents," the NATO Secretary General said.

He announced that the NATO summit in July "will consider the readiness initiative aimed at increasing the Alliance's reinforcement and deterrence of any threat."

"I believe that the main focus of the Brussels Summit in July will be about how to reinforce because our deterrence and defense are not only dependent on the forces we have deployed. They also depend on our ability to move forces. We are discussing the readiness of the forces that can be available on short notice," Stoltenberg said.
