Tinder denies reports it will provide users' data to Russian Special Services

The dating service Tinder confirmed that the Russian media watchdog, Roskomnadzor, entered the company in its  database of the information distributors, but that this does not mean that the data of its Russian users will be transferred to the authorities, reported Kommersant citing an official representative of Tinder.

“The Russian authorities sent us a registration request and we registered the business in order to comply with the law. However, being registered in the database by no means will lead to the transfer of any user or personal data to any Russian regulatory authorities. We have not transferred any data to the Russian government,” said the Tinder representative.

In early June 2019, Roskomnadzor entered Tinder into its information distribution database.  User correspondence in Russia will stay in the database for half a year and will be released to law enforcement agencies upon request.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor entered dating services Mamba and Badoo into its information distribution database.
