Turkey ready to send peacekeepers to Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu the situation in the Donbas, expounding on the idea of introducing the UN peacekeeping mission to the region.

Turkey supported the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission to the occupied territories of the Donbas and declared its readiness to participate in the mission," the press service of the Ukrainian head of state reported after the meeting in Istanbul on Monday.

In addition, the parties discussed the state of preparation for the seventh meeting of the Ukraine-Turkey High Level Strategic Council.

"Key directions for deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres were discussed separately, as well as opportunities for implementing joint projects in the energy sector Among other things, the question of trilateral cooperation between Ukraine, Turkey and Qatar was discussed," the press service said.

The parties also condemned the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
